Marija, a young Ukrainian woman, earns her living as a cleaner in a hotel in Dortmund, but dreams of owning her own hair salon. She puts some money aside every month when a dismissal without notice makes her dream a distant prospect. Without a job and under financial pressure, she is forced to look for other opportunities. In doing so, she is prepared to subordinate her body, her social relationships and finally her own feelings to the declared goal. Michael Koch's feature film debut is the portrait of a young woman who lives on the edge of our production and consumer society, but does not allow herself to be reduced to the victim role ascribed to her. Demanding, determined and uncompromising, she fights for a freer, self-determined life.
